This continuum is addressed to all dental professionals who wish to upgrade their skills in comprehensive dentistry, in treating complex cases and in implant dentistry. The systematic understanding of occlusion and function will be taught in detail. This program will expand the practioner’s knowledge of the craniomandibular system (TMJ), the neuromuscular complex, craniomandibular disorders, and how to assess the patient in a logical manner.
This continuum is an intense learning and hands-on experience in diagnosis, treatment planning and initial therapy based on the European concept of Prof. Slavicek. Achievement of long term stability in reconstructions and the interdisciplinary team approach in diagnosis and treatment planning are the key points.
The benefits for you:
- Learn how to set up complex cases
- Become safe in determining which patient needs what amount of dentistry
- Grow your skills from single tooth dentistry to comprehensive dental medicine
- Understand when to stay in centric occlusion and when to use centric relation or another therapeutic position as the reference position
- Gain the ability to treat patients with TMJ and neuromuscular problems
- Learn how to set up an interdisciplinary approach
- Increase your case acceptance and patient satisfaction
- Increase your self confidence and excitement for your daily work
Learn, explore, and take out of this program:
Contrary to other concepts, which use esthetic alignment of front teeth, statistics of tooth measurements or neuromuscular positions as the bases to set up cases, the Salvicek concept concentrates on skeletal relations and the importance of the occlusal plane and puts these in the foreground for diagnosis and treatment planning. Skeletal relations and the position and morphology of single teeth predict inevitably the clear goal for the later occlusal and wax up concept; as well as implant position.
The position of every single tooth can be explained through:
- Evolution of the masticatory organ
- Function between the opposing jaws
- Occlusal plane, vertical dimension, jaw angle, and curves of Spee and Wilson play an essential role
- Meaning of the number and form of the roots
In our patients, we are faced with individual skeletal relationships and our conceptual ideas must adapt to this individuality. The knowledge of the joint-mandibular-movement, of the muscle system, and of the occlusion leads to successful dentistry as a comprehensive concept for all dental disciplines.
The IDEA experience will forever change the way you practice.
The key points of this continuum:
- To understand the meaning of function and occlusion and their importance for the daily practice
- To understand the relationship between findings and symptoms and their underlying etiology
- To be able to set up complex treatment plans, proper treatment sequence, realistic time management, and correct cost projections
The participants will be able to:
- Determine the exact needed diagnostics in a particular case
- Recognize the functionally disturbed patient
- Collect all diagnostic information
- Bring all interdisciplinary possibilities into treatment planning
- Create the optimal treatment plan for a specific patient
Practice, practice, practice:
- Systematic steps of standardized diagnostics
- Comprehensive clinical procedures
- Instrumental diagnostic procedures
- Case documentation and presentation
- Treatment planning
- Wax up concept
- Initial therapy with functional appliances
On the basis of the diagnostic procedures, the participants will develop treatment plans for their own patients. Diagnosis and treatment planning involve interdisciplinary networking. The treatment will be accomplished at their own office.
There is no better way to learn. IDEA.
TMJ:
A special section will be devoted to the treatment of the craniomandibular system (TMJ), neuromuscular system (NMS), and craniomandibular disorders (CMD), as well as the utilization of additional medical specialties.
Initial Therapy:
The participants will learn to execute initial therapy with aids for conditioning the muscles and craniomandibular joints.
Preliminary Periodontal Treatment:
Treatment will be discussed with a specialist.
Basic Restorative Procedures
Requested treatment will be performed by the participants under supervision.
Orthodontic Therapy:
In patients who require orthodontic therapy, treatment will be planned in an interdisciplinary manner together with a functionally trained orthodontic specialist.
Periodontal Surgery and Implant Prosthetics
Emphasis will be placed on the combined planning of periodontal surgery and implant prosthetics.
Dental Technicians:
A very important aspect of the course is the integration of the dental technicians, who will be actively involved in planning and therapy.
The continuum is addressed to dentists of all disciplines, and dental technicians.
Where optimal Esthetics meet optimal Function. IDEA.
